Jun 11, 2012. #2. Re: Engine won't stop running when ignition switch is turned off. My guess is the diode in the alternator is NG and the alternator is backfeeding the ignition circuit even though the switch is off. A diode (not a resistor), could be added externally very inexpensive, connect it so that the switched ignition power to the
Pros and cons of the start-stop system. More and more new European cars feature a start-stop system that stops the motor from running a few seconds after coming to a full stop. Pressing the gas pedal, or switching from neutral on manual automatically starts the engine again. The upside of this for the manufacturers is that the official mileage
So a start-stop equipped car is not as hard on the engine as you might think vs. a regular engine starter. Still it seems no company has solved the vibrations that is commonly associated with an engine restart - either the steering wheel, pedals or worse the entire car shrudders.
The malfunction is essentially that the engine turns off, multiple warning lights appear on the dash, and you cannot get the vehicle going again without putting it in park and completely restarting it. On the forum link above it looks like this mainly happens when the intermittent wipers are on and the car auto stops.
To start, tap the side of the carburetor to help the flow of gas. If that doesn’t work, you might have a clogged filter. Not all lawn mowers have a fuel filter, but for the ones that do, it’s usually located in the fuel line or the fuel tank. To find out where the fuel filter is at, check your lawn mower’s owners manual, which will also
Now your know. If your car goes through the dipstick in 500 miles, step one grade up, and see if it changes. If it stops burning, it was the weight of the oil. High milage engine's tolerances change overtime, and manufacturers recommend oil grades for brand new engines, not ones that have 200k miles on it. Hope this helps someone out 👍.
And if you are somewhere behind at the traffic light, start the engine back up when second car ahead starts going. I know, too easy. Or if you happen to drive those automatics, then you have to press the break gently, and stop standing on it. If you just gently press the break to a stop, then the engine won't be stopped.
Pretty common. Lots of these systems need to have specific parameters met to use the system. If your fan speed is too high, no start stop. Too cold/hot outside? No start stop. Battery a smidge too low on voltage? No start stop. I wouldn’t worry about it that much.
This happen last year at a red light and engine wouldn't start again for about 15 seconds after turning off due to the start stop function. Everything seemed fine after that for the next few months. Fast forward half a year and it happened again, same reason, engine turned off from the start/stop function and refused to start again throwing
Exactly. When I am waiting on stop sign/red light to enter into a bigger crowded road, idle stop is like "hold my beer, you are not entering the road now before that vehicle which is at far distant" and by the time you have released the brake to start the engine, that far distant vehicle is already close enough that you don't want to enter.
It's about the light pollution added by non-dimmable idiot lights. Most new Toyota's don't have it. (some do, depending on trim & options) My Rav4 Adventure doesn't have it, for instance. On the other hand, Ram's new 2nd Gen auto start/stop works very well, so much so that I'd live with it daily if I had one.
Most cars don't shut down turbo cooling when stop/start shuts off the engine, so the turbo doesn't care. This is actually better for the engine, if the starter is designed for it. Idling is what's really killing your engine. As for driving, I don't really like it in my automatic Benz.
